Is my submission more suitable for GraphicRiver or PhotoDune?
It can be tricky to know whether some sorts of files are more appropriate for GraphicRiver or PhotoDune. While we do allow authors to submit similar items to both marketplaces, it is best to pick the marketplace, format and presentation that best suits your item.
As a general rule, files on GraphicRiver are:
- Layered files
- Able to be sold in packs
- Highly editable
- Used as elements of a wider design
While files on PhotoDune are:
- Flattened .jpg files
- Sold only as single images
- Commercially useful in their current form
- Used as stand-alone images, requiring minimal or no editing
The rest of this article outlines specific item types and where they belong on the Marketplaces. If you don’t find the information you’re looking for here, please contact Support.
Part One: 3d Renders
3d renders that are flat .jpg files and are commercially useful with minimal editing may be submitted to PhotoDune. These images do not necessarily have to be "photo-real" however they must meet our quality standards and have potential when sold in their unlayered form.
Layered 3d renders with elements that add additional utility may be submitted to GraphicRiver (in categories such as Isolated Objects or Graphics). Unlayered files should not be submitted to GraphicRiver.
Examples of 3d renders on GraphicRiver:

Badges and Sale Tags
This submission is highly appropriate for GraphicRiver, but would not be suitable for PhotoDune as it would have less commercial utility as a .jpg file. Rendered buttons, tags and other elements that require text or extensive editing should be submitted to GraphicRiver as layered files.

Drink Can
The editable elements of this submission make it highly appropriate for GraphicRiver. It would not be suitable for both marketplaces.

Isolated Money Rain
Although photo-real, the added utility of layers and depth of field effects makes this item more appropriate for GraphicRiver than PhotoDune. It may also be submitted to PhotoDune as a .jpg (this is known as "double-dipping") however it may have reduced commercial purpose as a stand-alone image.
Examples of 3d renders on PhotoDune:

3d Rendered House
This is suitable for PhotoDune, as it functions as a stand-alone image useful with minimal editing.

Film Slate with Movie Film Reel
Though not photo-realistic, this submission has utility as a .jpg and is appropriate for PhotoDune.

3D Man with Headset
Similarly, as this image could be used with minimal editing it is suitable for PhotoDune.
A note on file packs and similar images: If you have a large portfolio of similar renders, you may find they have improved sales potential sold as a pack on GraphicRiver or as a model on 3DOcean.
Part Two: Paintings, Drawings and Illustrations
Flat-scan hand-drawn images may be submitted to PhotoDune, however you should consider submitting them to GraphicRiver (in the Illustrations category) if:
- They could be isolated against a white background, or otherwise edited to add utility as layered files.
- They are more useful as an element of a design than as a stand-alone image.
- You have a range of related images that could be submitted as a pack.
